CHINESE BOUQUET HOLDER VASE

Sèvres, national porcelain manufacture, 1874.

MANUFACTURING MARK: S 74 indicating the year 1874, inscribed in an oblong cartouche, all of which printed underglaze in green to indicate a hard paste and twice visible on the inside of the neck and under the base of the vase.

Decorative and gilding mark printed in red in the shape of a double-rimmed circle enclosing the intertwined cursive letters RF [République Française], bordered at the upper edge by the words DECORE A SEVRES and underlined by the number 83 indicating the year 1883; visible twice on the inside of the neck and under the base of the vase, each time under the manufacturing mark described above.

SIGNATURE: W painted in dark green under the base of the vase: initial of the painter who decorated the vase and possibly corresponding to the signature of the painter Waret who was active at Sèvres in 1875.
